Dear Firebird, If Stravinsky and Diaghilev could have seen this sensuous, imaginative, heart warming painting, I think you would have had the job of illustrating the program for the Ballets Russes or at minimum, you would be doing the curtain design or backdrop. The deeply rewarding marriage of a strange milky green and a rusty terrecotte, modified by such a pale yellow and highlighted with deep black lines is rewarding beyond words. On top of all that is the spirit of the Firebird herself... seductive, gentle, sleepy and just so beautiful. What a little masterpiece we have here and what a surprise to see a warm interior work after the two previous exterior winter sketches. Great work Verena, thanks for today's pleasure once again. What can I say?
